Beach and Tides The Neuse River would not actually have much of a rise and fall in water (a tide) if it were not for the wind. The wind drives the water up river to create a rise in the water level. Lack of a wind lets the water run down river and the water level in the river drops. At Bennett landing, when the water level drops, a clear and visible sandy beach emerges close to our shoreline. At Bennett Landing, when the wind is continuously blowing and the “tide” rises, the water will come up to the base of the cemented boulders that line our over 400 feet of waterfront. (shown Below) Our 200 foot long day dock straddles the concreted stone retaining wall and heads down to the water. Enjoy dolphins all over the river as you are on the day dock or the balcony of one of the two story villas. Below is a photo of a high water level at Bennett Landing.
